What is the GMAT Exam?

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is the globally recognised entrance exam for MBA, Master's in Management, Master of Finance, and Business Analytics programmes at top universities. Conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), it is accepted by 7,700+ programmes at 2,400+ universities in 110+ countries.

The current GMAT is a streamlined, computer-adaptive exam with just three 45-minute sections — Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights. There is no essay section, and you can attempt the sections in any order you choose.

How much time do I need to prepare for GMAT?
It varies from student to student. According to us, it takes anywhere from 2 to 6 months to prepare for the GMAT depending on your current level and target score.
My English/Math is very poor. Will I get a decent score?
The GMAT does not test theoretical knowledge — it tests reasoning ability. CELECT teaches strategies for maximum speed and accuracy, not complicated formulae. Follow your trainer's advice and a good score is absolutely achievable.
What if I miss a class?

Can I take the GMAT online?
Yes. The GMAT can be taken online from home or at a test centre. The structure, scoring, and score validity are identical in both modes.
Is GMAT harder than GRE?
Neither is objectively harder. GMAT Quant and Data Insights are often considered tougher, while GRE Verbal is generally considered harder. Choose based on the programmes you're targeting — CELECT coaches both.
Does the GMAT have negative marking?
No. There is no negative marking. The GMAT is computer-adaptive, so questions get harder as you answer correctly — but you must answer every question, as unanswered questions carry a penalty.
